Classroom Grant Opportunity for Teachers + Ideas to Use It

At Mindful Minutes and Challenge to Change, Inc., we know that funding is often the biggest barrier to bringing meaningful resources into classrooms.

While we do not offer grants directly, we are committed to helping educators find outside funding opportunities—and giving you ideas for how to use them in a way that truly supports your students.

Featured Grant: Classroom Champions Teacher Mini-Grant

We recently came across a grant opportunity through the Ottumwa Legacy Foundation that supports classroom learning experiences.

**This is not a grant offered by Mindful Minutes or Challenge to Change, Inc. We’re simply sharing it to support educators.

What This Grant Can Fund

This opportunity is flexible and can support:

  • Classroom supplies

  • Educational kits

  • Adaptive learning tools

  • Field trips

  • Professional development

  • Special classroom projects

Which makes it a great fit for social-emotional learning (SEL), mindfulness, and student well-being tools.

How You Could Use This Grant (Real Ideas)

1. Daily Mindfulness & Calm-Down Tools

Use funding to bring in simple, consistent tools that help students regulate emotions and build focus .https://www.challengetochangeinc.com/category/classroom-resources

2. Structured SEL & Mindfulness Programming

Implement a program that gives students skills in emotional awareness, self-regulation, and resilience. https://www.challengetochangeinc.com/prek-12

3. Educator Training & Professional Development

Use grant funds to build your confidence and skills in supporting student mental health. https://www.challengetochangeinc.com/continuing-education

4. Classroom or Small Group Impact

If your grant allows, consider expanding beyond a single lesson to support your full classroom or multiple groups of students.

With funding around $750, you could:

  • Implement a full classroom mindfulness curriculum (~$199 per classroom)

  • Support multiple classrooms within a grade level

  • Combine curriculum with additional classroom tools or resources

Why This Matters

Students today need more than academics—they need tools to:

  • Manage emotions

  • Build focus

  • Navigate stress

  • Feel safe and supported in the classroom

Grants like this make it possible to bring those supports into everyday learning.
